This wiki has been established to support the research being undertaken in collaboration with University of Surrey students who are either on work placement, or who have completed their work placement. The research is intended to improve our understanding of the way students learn to be professonal in the work envionment so that we can improve the way we prepare and support them. The wiki is maintained by the Surrey Centre for Excellence in Professional Training and Education (SCEPTrE).

Current Projects

 

Challenging experiences on work placement :

Dr Paulo Lopes, who is an expert in emotional intelligence to try to create a database of short stories based on the challenging personal experiences that students have had on placement. These anonymised stories will be used to develop scenarios for workshops with students preparing for placement.

Learning to be Professional Questionnaire : survey closed March 9th

WOW!! What a fantastic response to the survey. A big thank you to all of you who contributed. This is probably the biggest survey of its kind ever undertaken and we are optimistic that the results will be very significant. We attach the statistical report before the data have been processes. Over the next month Professor Eraut will be analysing the results and he will produce a report. We will let you know when its ready.
